, this is part of a series. Her request was a transmutation circle that caused a thermite reaction (a reaction between aluminum and iron under massive heat) that causes an explosive reaction.
This throwing knife is composed of iron and aluminum. There is a thin copper core all along the length of the blade.
Before you throw the blade, activate the array. The transmutation starts of slow, but after about three seconds, the aluminum and iron mix, and are superheated. By this time, the knife should be stuck in somebody and going "Fwoosh". The thin copper holds the materials so the thermite doesn't fall off during the reaction. That way, the explosion can happen near the puncture wound.
In other words, activate, throw, Fwoosh.

I'm pretty sure a thermite reaction requires iron oxide rather than just iron. Of course, that can be remedied by using the oxygen in the air to oxidize the iron before the reaction occurs. I'm a novice at this stuff though, so there's no way I'm going to be able to figure that one out right now.
